Notes

1. The minimum operating system:
   • 1050MHz or 1200MHz:
     Solaris 8 2/04 or Solaris 9 4/04
   • 1350MHz:
     Solaris 8 2/04, Solaris 9 4/04, or Solaris 10 3/05
   • 1500MHz, 1800MHz or 1950MHz:
     Solaris 9 9/05 or Solaris 10 3/05 HW1
2. Four DIMMs of the same size form a bank.
3. A populated DIMM bank requires an UltraSPARC IV CPU.
4. Mixing UltraSPARC III Cu, UltraSPARC IV, and UltraSPARC IV+ is supported.
5. F540-5940 is made with covers 340-4293 and 340-7852 and heatsink 541-0078.
6. F540-6251 is made with cover 541-0141 and heatsink 541-0122.
7. F540-6251 replaced F540-5940 in June 2004.

Sun Fire 4800/6800/E4900/E6900 Notes

1. The minimum System Controller firmware level:
   • 1050MHz or 1200MHz:
     5.16
   • 1350MHz:
     5.18.1
   • 1500MHz:
     5.19
   • 1800MHz:
     5.20.1
   • 1950MHz:
     5.20.4
2. System Controller firmware 5.19.1 may cause a panic.
   Use >= 5.19.2.
3. The Sun Fire 4800 requires E4900 Power Supply 300-1596.
   1800MHz and 1950MHz require Power Supply 300-1837 on Sun Fire 4800 and E4900.
   E4900-BASE2Z (announced August 2006) includes 300-1837.
4. The Sun Fire 4800 requires E4900 Fan Trays 540-5997, 540-5998, and 540-5999.
   1800MHz and 1950MHz require Fan Trays 541-1134, 541-1135, and 541-1136 on Sun Fire 4800 and E4900.
   E4900-BASE2Z (announced August 2006) includes 541-1134, 541-1135, and 541-1136.
5. XE4900-USIV+KIT-Z includes three 300-1837 power supplies and fan trays 541-1134, 541-1135, and 541-1136.
6. The Sun Fire 6800 requires E6900 Power Supply 300-1595.
   1800MHz requires E6900 Power Supply 300-1836 if ScApp <= 5.20.1.
   If ScApp >= 5.20.2, E6900 Power Supply 300-1595, 300-1836 or 300-1930 can be used.
   1950MHz requires E6900 Power Supply 300-1836.
   E6900-BASE2Z (announced August 2006) includes 300-1836.
   XE6900-USIV+KIT-Z includes six 300-1836 Power Supplies.
7. CPU/Memory Board slots are labeled SB0 through SB5.
8. Install Filler Board 540-4040 in all empty CPU/Memory Board slots.
9. Install Filler Panel 330-2821 when servicing a CPU/Memory Board slot.

Sun Fire 12K/15K/E20K/E25K Notes

1. CPU/Memory slots are labeled SB0 through SB17.
   
   
2. SMS Requirements:
   • 1050MHz or 1200MHz:
     SMS 1.4.1 with patches is required.
   • 1350MHz:
     SMS 1.4.1 with patches 117866-04 or higher, and 117371-06 or higher, are required.
     The minimum firmware for 1350MHz is 5.18.1 (SMS 1.4.1 117772-03).
   • 1500MHz:
     SMS 1.5 is required.
   • 1800MHz:
     SMS 1.6 is required.
   • 1950MHz:
     SMS 1.6 with patches 123300-05 or higher, and 124319-02 or higher, are required.
   
   
3. 1200MHz, 1350MHz, 1500MHz, 1800MHz & 1950MHz Uniboards will run at 1050MHz when installed in the 12K, 15K, E20K, and E25K, unless the carrier plate is upgraded, as described below.
   
   540-5940:
   • This Uniboard runs only at 1050MHz.
   
   All other 1200MHz, 1350MHz, 1500MHz, 1800MHz & 1950MHz Uniboards:
   • Sun Fire 12K/15K: Full 1200/1350/1500/1800MHz performance requires a carrier plate upgrade kit, either:
     C-F1XK-USIV-KIT (containing carrier plates 541-0119, 541-0120, and 541-0121) or
     C-F1XK-USIV-KIT-Z (, containing carrier plates 541-1396, 541-1398, and 541-1399).
     • Without the carrier plate upgrade, the Uniboards will operate at 1050MHz.
   • Sun Fire E20K/E25K: The required carrier plates are shipped with E20K/E25K.
   
   
4. Expander Boards 501-5179-20, 501-6827, 501-6802, and 501-7361 include AXQ 6.3.
   Upgrade C-HIGHEND-UG included nine 501-6827 or 501-6802 Expander Boards.
   Upgrade C-HIGHEND-UG-Z includes nine 501-7361 Expander Boards with AXQ 6.3.
